In a shocking event and regardless of the gossips, Nigeria tops the list of top 10 African countries with best teaching skills. This list was released by Times Higher Education.
Nigeria has topped the list of the top 10 African Universities with best teaching skills, with four of its notable universities included. The ranking released by Times Higher Education (THE) was based on accurate data from students and bibliometric sources. They also assessed teaching qualities across the four pillars, thus, resources, environment, outcomes, and engagement.
For Sustainable Development Goal 4, there should be quality education. This ranking correlates to the SDG released by the United Nations. Numerous African countries were ranked according to the quality of teaching, which is critical in tackling underdevelopment.
The rankings were made for only Sub-Saharan universities. The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) topped the list with 85.3 index.
Top 10 African Universities With Best Teaching Skills
1. University of Cross River State, Nigeria
The university has over 18,000 students, and offers numerous programs for all students. This is a public university which has about 4 campuses in Cross River State. The University of Cross River State is bounded by Benue on the north, Ebonyi on the west, and Akwa Ibom on the southwest.

2. Benson Idahosa University, Nigeria
This is a private institution in Benin City, Edo State. This renowned instution secured the second spot in the rankings with an 84.9 quality index. Benson Idahosa University was founded in 2002, which is among the youngest private universities in the country.
3. Rongo University, Kenya
The Rongo University in Kenya secured the third spot for the list released by Times Higher Education. This institution started as a technical school. The university secured an 84.2 quality index. The Rongo University does offer exchange courses with Nottingham and Brighton university in the United Kingdom.
4. Akenten Appiah-Menka University, Ghana
The leading institution in Ghana for technical and vocational education is the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills, Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED). The university secured the fourth spot in the rankings and as the best institution in Ghana in terms of teaching quality with an 83.7 quality index.
5. Ardhi University, Tanzania
The ARU is a public institution which secured the fifth spot for the top 10 African countries with best teaching skills. The Ardhi University secured a quality index of 81.6.
6. Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Nigeria
This is a public institution that was established in 2006, and was later renamed in 2010. The Umaru Musa Yar’adua University secured the sixth spot with a quality index of 80.7.
7. Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria
The Federal University of Agriculture was established by the Federal government of Nigeria in 1988. The University sits at the seventh position in the list released by Times Higher Education with a quality index of 79.0.
8. International Business, Science, And Technology University, Uganda
The ISBAT University can be found in Kampala and was established in 2006. According to Times Higher Education, the university ranks as the eighth in the top 10 African countries with the best teaching skills. ISBAT secured a quality index of 79.0.
9. Ashesi University, Ghana
A private institution in Ghana secured the ninth spot with a quality index of 78.5. The Ashesi University is deemed to be the finest private university in Ghana.
10. University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa
The University is a public research institution owned by the government and was established in 1922. According to Times Higher Education, the University of the Witwatersrand secured the tenth position with a quality index of 77.9
